About the preschool data
Where the numbers come from and what each one means.
Source
Everything comes from ECDA, the Early Childhood Development Agency, through data.gov.sg: its list of centres (names, addresses, operator scheme, SPARK certification and vacancies), its list of centre services (monthly fees) and its list of incidental charges. The data on this site is ECDA's file of 17 Oct 2026, which ECDA updates every day. Map positions come from ECDA's locations of childcare centres and kindergartens, with OneMap filling in the rest by postal code.
1,804 centres are listed. Student care for primary school children is left out. 71 entries that ECDA lists without a centre name or postal code are left out until ECDA completes them.
What "monthly fee listed with ECDA, before subsidies" means
- Each centre tells ECDA its fee for each level, for full day or half day, and for Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents and others. Each centre reports its fees to ECDA itself, and we show them as listed.
- Where a centre lists several open options for the same level, the table shows the lowest with "from". A fee that the centre's own note limits to certain children (for example staff or existing pupils) is shown in the list under the table but never used as the headline fee.
- This site shows a kindergarten's session fees as half-day fees. Some centres write the amount for a term or a day in the monthly box, so each fee is shown with the centre's own note.
- A fee of $0 is shown as "$0 listed" and is left out of every comparison.
- ECDA's file does not say whether a fee has GST added, and centres differ. We show every fee exactly as listed and never adjust it.
Government-supported and other centres
Anchor Operators and Partner Operators receive government funding and keep their fees within a cap. This site calls them government-supported. Every other centre, including not-for-profit centres, is shown as other centres. Because most centres are government-supported, one overall typical fee would mislead, so the two groups are always shown separately. For government-supported centres we show the 10th to 90th percentile of the lowest fees, not the lowest and highest, so one centre's unusual fee does not set the range. See Questions.
Estimates after the basic subsidy
For full-day infant care and childcare for Singapore Citizens, we show about how much the listed fee is after the basic subsidy for a working main applicant: $600 a month for infant care and $300 a month for childcare, never below $0. We show no estimate for Permanent Residents, others or half day, for kindergartens (which use a separate scheme), or where the centre's note already mentions a subsidy. Families with lower incomes can get more. Check your own situation on ECDA's subsidy page. Amounts checked 17 Oct 2026.
Vacancies
For each level, ECDA lists the word the centre reported for this month and the next six: Available, Limited, Full or Not applicable. We show these words as reported, with the date the centre last updated its listing. ECDA's data has no number of places, so we show none. When the date is over 90 days old we add "This may be out of date. Call the centre to check.", and such a centre never appears under "has places".
Other charges
Registration, deposits, insurance and similar charges come from ECDA's incidental charges file. That file stops at 10,000 rows, so a few centres may have charges missing, and many centres have none listed. A centre page never says there are no other charges; it says when ECDA's open data has none.
Distances and maps
Distances are a straight line from the postal code you type, rounded to the nearest 50 m. They are not walking or driving distances. ECDA gives one position for each postal code, so centres in the same building are spread a few metres apart on the map so each dot can be tapped. A centre with no position has a page and shows in search, but has no dot.
